Finally received tadpoles after about a year. Received 2 & 1 was already dead upon delivery.. The tadpole that was alive lived for about 9 months without ever turing totally into a frog.. It lived as half tadpole and half frog for about 6 months then just died.. Try explaining that to a 5 year old. WASTE OF MONEY

Don't buy this cheap plastic product. We ordered the tadpoles, spent the money, waited almost a year for the delivery (too hot, too cold, not in stock). We followed the instructions and the tadpoles died in two days. I felt like we had helped torture them. It was a terrible lesson for a child.

I bought the product for my son's birthday. Put water in it. Put in a little bitty toad. And watched him suffer for an excruciating 15 minutes. The plastic surface was so slippery that he couldn't even walk/hop around. It was also so flimsy that I worried that he'd be able to knock it over if he tried to hop against the side of it. So I pulled him out and put him into a big planter until I could get a suitable home for him. I was disgusted at the waste of money. I wish I could give it a zero rating because I got nothing out of it.

I think this company has some questionable business practices. Several times I've received the run around regarding accuracy of pricing, especially shipping. I was told that my shipping would not be what was posted in the catalog but what they claimed were "relative" charges for the amount of the order. When I go to the post office, my shipping is based on weight. Why is your shipping based on the cost of the product? That's irrational.

I too was extremely disappointed when I received the item and it was the soft plastic things are packaged in instead of the hard plastic I was expecting. However, I already had some tadpoles and was in dire need of this type of atmosphere. So, I used it. It's working well. I've watched my tadpole develop into a frog and so far it's doing well. For the money, though, it should be made of hard plastic. It's not worth the money I paid.

WARNING!! PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING!!!
I recently recieved this item in the mail, and was extremely dissatisfied with it. It is NOT made of hard plastic, like you would assume a small habitat would be. Instead, it is made from cheap, flimsy plastic - weaker plastic than what water bottles are made from! The item descr iption says "escape proof", however I'm pretty sure even an ant could escape from this piece of crap. You're better off going to a pet store and buying a $10 5-gallon aquarium like I did.
The only complaints on here are about the extra money you have to pay for shipping the tadpoles. I went to a pond retailer and bought the tadpoles for 79cents each... alot cheaper than what the other customers are paying for thier tadpoles.
Overall, this product is completely worthless, and isnt worth $8, let alone the $38 I paid for it. Its DEFINATELY being returned.

My son received Planet Frog as a Christmas present. He was so excited about it. We tried to order the free tadpoles right away(which really aren't free, $8 for shipping), but were told they couldn't ship because of the cold. That makes sense to me. So we wwaited until spring and now we are told that they are unavailable because of unexepected order volumes. It is now almost July and they say it as least going to be another 6-8 weeks before they started answering orders. By the time they get to me it will be the fall before I can get my tadpoles. I bet by that time it will be too cold again. What waste of money!! I have this great flimsy piece of plastic to look at for almost a year with no tadpoles. The thing is worhtless.

You have to pay extra for the frogs. I felt it was misleading because I thought the cost of the frogs would be included.

Please note the frogs can only ship if day and night temperatures are between 40 and 80 degrees. We bought this for Christmas but won't actually be able to use it until April or May.

THIS TYPE OF FROG IS ILLEGAL TO HAVE CAPTIVE IN OREGON. THERE IS NO WARNING ON THE WEBSITE. YOU CAN BUY IT BUT THEY WON'T SEND YOU ANY FROGS IF YOU LIVE IN OREGON.
