This is a very cool idea but the process is very long (each of the 4 steps lasting as long as 7 days- the longer you run it the better the results, so this process can take up to a month). It is also VERY noisy, we have ours in the basement locked in the laundry room. This would not be good for you if you do not have a place that you can close the door and walk away from it, it is definitely not something to keep in your childs bedroom. It is the noise of the machine along with the noise of the constant "tumbling" of the rocks and the tumbling goes on 24 hours a day. We have been taking a break in between cycles to stop the noise for a while, we started Christmas day and are just getting ready to start the 4th and final cycle. The change in the rocks is pretty amazing thus far, we'll see what happens in step 4.

My 5 year old received this for Christmas & loves it. This is not something that you can plug in for a day & have a shiny & smooth rock. It takes over a week. I was surprised that she has been so patient. It is a great way to teach that things have a process.
