Genes & DNA

Horrified says:
I ordered this book for my very bright and science-obsessed third grader, but am returning it. Why? Because it devotes as many pages to eugenics, "genetic monsters" and bioterror as it does to explaining what genes are and how they make proteins. Its treatment of those very serious topics is almost cartoon-like, with a photo of smiling concentration camp victims and a one-sentence explanation of the holocaust. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Genes-DNA says:
I completely disagree with the previous review. This book presents DNA and genetics from a purely scientific perspective and states many times that the author is not taking a stance for or against. It does an excellent job of explaining DNA. Likewise, in context the mention of the holocaust only needed to be made in passing and the 3 men shown were just rescued from a prison camp as the caption states. I would certainely be smiling if I had survived such horror.
