Did you know that NASA engineers and astronauts use duct tape to make emergency repairs in space? In 1970, duct tape came to the rescue of three astronauts on board the Apollo 13 when the square carbon dioxide filters had to be modified to fit the round receptacles in the lunar module—which was being used as a lifeboat after an explosion en route to the moon. The astronauts, acting on the instructions given by the ground crew, used duct tape and other items found on board to make the necessary repairs.
